Statement

Stimulating and challenging the physical presence and movement of my audience is an important starting point because I believe that you store the experience in the body that can lead to an intrinsic change. The perception philosophy of Maurice Merleau Ponty 'through our body we are at home in the world, without and before we direct our consciousness to that world' plays an important role in my vision.  I research psychological themes. Photography and text are my most frequently used research instruments. With these media I slow myself down and shift my gaze to the detail and the layering that create the story. In that transformation my focus on the subject unfolds and my choice of medium, material and collaborations arise. The choice to work with different media and materials came about through a growing conviction that a combination of senses stimulates a more intuitive rather than cognitive experience, and thus contributes to the physical experience I am after.
